Level Ground
About Mr Baker's Dozen Summer programme 2005 Past events and gallery

This was written by one of our members after we went to Priddy Folk Festival. The tune is "Shallow Brown."

Farewell from Bakers Dozen, all world, all world renowned
Oh Priddy we’re bound to leave you, for level, oh level ground.

No more porta-loo queue, oh smelly, oh smelly brown
We’re off to find hot showers, to hose, to hose us down.

No more mud a churning, oh squidgey, oh squidgey sound
No more worms a squirming, for dancing and prancing round.

We’ll miss your lusty cockerels, oh peace, oh peace abound
Likewise your crazy canine, neurotic, neurotic hound.

Your tumuli and barrrows, oh hollow, oh hollow mound
Your lengthy summer showers, oh drowned, we nearly drowned.

There’s no more wine for drinking, oh headache, oh headache pound
So adieu to all you folkies, oh sing, oh sing around.

Poor Roy did lots of phoning, oh keys, oh car keys found
Poor Brian did lots of moaning, oh home, oh homeward bound.

So Farewell from Bakers Dozen, all world, all world renowned,
Oh Priddy we’re bound to leave you, for level, oh level ground.
