About Mr Baker's Dozen Past events and gallery

Teignmouth Folk Festival was our summer 2005 adventure.

It didn't start in a promising fashion. We set off in rain, thunder, lightning, and all sorts of other unpleasant things falling from the sky. The journey was horrendous, riddled with delays.

Once we got there, though, it was very enjoyable. We stuck two tents together, to create a Supertent, which we could take refuge in when it rained. We danced a lot, sang a lot, drank a lot, sang some more, and ate sausages.

Here is a song about our Teignmouth experiences

Lightning in the Solent

This is the view from the ferry off the island. Teignmouth is in the direction of the lightning, but a bit further away. I stood on deck for the entire journey, and took about 100 pictures in a vain attempt to get a dazzling lightning shot. This is the best I managed.
Freddie's Revenge

While waiting for a ferry at Teigmouth, we spotted this boat. The dog posing in front of it is Freddy (or Freddie?), our mascot. He did not like getting on the ferry one little bit, so clearly he is planning his revenge on us for making him get on.
Dancing Greenwood

We did an awful lot of dancing in the Little Triangle. Here is one such dance, called Greenwood.
Posing with the mayor

We couldn't resist the opportunity to pose with a man wearing a gold chain. He didn't resist too much, or perhaps he was intimidated by our big sticks.
Singing Tommy

Our dance, "Tommy's Delight", is preluded with a rendition of the song, "Over the hills and far away." Sadly, the chap who used to sing it has departed for pastures new. Happily, those pastures new are near Teignmouth, so we had him back for the weekend. We put him to work big time.
Drum

Tommy's Delight has a rather military feel, so we danced it to no music at all, just a martial drum.
Tommy's Delight

And here is the dance itself - Tommy's Delight - done in rigid, military lines. We take the military verisimilitude to far that we even have a scary sergeant major shouting orders at us.
Father Abraham

We suddenly remembered on the last morning that we had forgotten to sing Father Abraham the night before, so performed it over breakfast. It's a lot more tiring when you're sober
